Please join me in helping the children of Kenya…

I recently returned from a medical trip to Kenya, where I met with tribal leaders and treated some 250 adults and children for a variety of health issues.

Two individuals that I was most inspired by were Salaton Ole Ntutu—a tribal leader, and Hellen Nkuraiya—an inspirational teacher and defender of the rights of children. I learned that the gift of quality education provides the foundation for a healthy future for many of these children who otherwise would lead a far less productive life, and perhaps perish at a much younger age.

Hellen introduced me to a girl who was barely 13 years old, and had been promised in marriage with a dowry of cows to a man much older, as is the Maasai tradition. She was to be circumcised (a procedure that sometimes leads to death) and married within the year, until Helen intervened. She convinced her father to allow her to go to school instead. Now, she’s in school creating her own dreams. If she had married, and the husband, who has several wives, left her, she would never, by tradition, be permitted to marry again. At the young age of say, 14 or 15, she would be a widow, forever. There are some 39 young girls, thus far, that Hellen has saved through the generous donations of people like you.

The US-based organization that made a school scholarship possible for the girl I mentioned is Asante Africa Foundation. They work closely with leaders like Hellen to achieve the vision and goals the leaders have for their community.

I’ve partnered with Asante Africa to raise money for their work in Kenya, and hope you will join me in making a tax deductible donation that fuels the mind, body, spirit health of children in Africa.
